Privacy

Privacy policy.

The short version: we don't ask you for personal information, and we don't sell what we have. The longer version follows.

1. The short version

PriceCheckMD doesn't require an account, doesn't ask for personal or medical information, and doesn't sell what we collect. We use Google Analytics to count visits and understand which pages people use. That's it.

2. What we collect

When you visit the site:

  • Standard web logs from the servers and CDN that host the site. These include your IP address, browser type, the pages you viewed, and the time of visit. This is the same information that any web server records by default.
  • Google Analytics data. We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic. Google may set cookies and collect usage data subject to Google's own privacy policy. We have IP anonymization enabled where supported.
  • Search queries you enter are sent to our pricing API to return results. We log queries in aggregate to understand what people search for, but we don't tie searches to identities.

3. What we don't collect

  • We don't ask for your name, email address, phone number, or any contact information to use the search.
  • We don't ask for medical history, conditions, prescriptions, or any health information.
  • We don't have user accounts, so there's no profile of "your activity" to build.
  • We don't use third-party advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or social-media tracking scripts.

4. What we do with what we have

  • Operate the site. Server logs are used to keep the site running, prevent abuse, and debug problems.
  • Understand usage. Aggregate analytics help us decide which features matter and where the site needs work.
  • Prioritize coverage. Aggregate searches by state and procedure inform which insurers and regions we expand to next.

5. What we don't do

  • We don't sell or rent any data to insurers, providers, advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else.
  • We don't share individual searches with insurers, providers, or third parties.
  • We don't combine your activity with information from other sources to identify you.

6. Cookies

We use cookies in two ways. First, Google Analytics sets cookies to track aggregate site usage. Second, the site itself does not set any tracking cookies of its own. You can disable cookies in your browser without losing the ability to search.

7. Third-party services

The site relies on a small number of third parties to function:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts the site and the pricing API.
  • Google Analytics provides usage analytics.
  • Google Fonts serves the typefaces used on the site.

Each of these has its own privacy practices. We've chosen them because they're widely used and reasonably well-audited, not because we have a special relationship with any of them.

8. Children

PriceCheckMD is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from children. If a parent or guardian believes a child has used the site in a way that needs to be addressed, please contact us.

9. Your choices

Because we don't collect personal information tied to you, most data-rights questions don't have a useful answer here — there's no account to delete and no profile to export. That said:

10. Changes to this policy

If we change how we handle data, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Substantive changes will be called out on the homepage.
